入学試験概要
こちらのページでは、慶應義塾大学経済学部の英語学位プログラム・PEARL（Programme in Economics for Alliances, Research and Leadership）について紹介します。
1.慶應義塾大学経済学部のPEARLとは？
慶應義塾大学の経済学部は、5年間で学士号と修士号の両方を取得できる英語学位プログラム（English Degree Programme/EDP）を提供しています。学士号を取得するのに4年、修士号を取得するのに2年（合計6年）が一般的には必要ですが、PEARLプログラムの学生はこれよりも1年短い5年で、学士号と修士号の両方を取得できます。
2.出願の時期について
試験の合格者は9月に入学し、試験の出願期間は10月から翌年4月の間に、3つのPeriod（時期）に分けられています。
1st Periodは10月から12月、2nd Periodは12月から翌1月、3rd Periodは2月から4月です。出願資格を満たす受験生はどのラウンドにも出願できますが、2ndと3rd Periodでは1st Periodの合格人数に応じて募集枠が縮小される可能性があるため、1st Periodでの出願を強くお勧めします。
出願に必要な書類について
提出書類のうち、以下については特に入念な準備を行う必要があります。
①Standardized Testの以下いずれか（複数のスコアを保有する場合、複数のスコア提出も可）を提出する必要があります。
・国際バカロレアディプロマ（IB Diploma）およびその成績予測値（Perdicted grades）
・SAT
・ACT（ライティングセクションのスコアは不要）
②英語テストのスコア
・TOEFL
・IELTS Academic Module
③志望理由書（Written Statement of the Applicant’s Academic and Future Goals）
PEARLで学びたい理由や内容について、600語以内の英文エッセイを作成します。
生成AIや他者（業者を含む）に志望理由書の作成を委託するのは厳禁です！
④2分間のプレゼンテーションビデオ（Two-minute Video in English）
面接試験の代わりに、2分間のプレゼンテーションビデオを提出します。この動画では、主に以下の3点を説明します。
・自己紹介
・志望理由書の要点
・現代の経済問題についての論評
なお、対面やWebでの面接試験はありません。
出願対策にあたって注意すべきこと
Standardised Testや英語資格試験のスコアアップは独学でも可能ですが、書類審査を担当する大学教員を唸らせる志望理由書を独りで作成するのは難しいですよね。
志望理由書においては、以下の要素を読み手にしっかりと伝える必要があります。
・PEARLで学びたい！という強い熱意
・自分がPEARLの学生となるのに相応しい理由
・PEARLで学んだことを将来どのように活用するか
上述の通り面接や筆記試験はPEARLの選考プロセスにないため、志望理由書の内容が説得力に欠けるものだと判断されてしまうと、合格できる確率は大変に低くなってしまいます。
また、英語能力検定試験の対策も大切です。PEARL受験生の多くは海外経験が長い学生のため、合格者のTOEFLやIELTSのスコアも必然的に高くなります。
それに見劣りしないスコアを獲得するには、読解やリスニングだけでなく、英語ライティングやスピーキングでも高い点数を取得する必要があります。これは過去問や参考書に基づく独学では難しく、他人からのフィードバックが欠かせません。
PEARLでは英語は「できて当たり前」の世界のため、英語「で」学ぶ力、試験対策を超えた英語学習も必要です。

This page introduces PEARL (Program in Economics for Alliances, Research and Leadership), an English-language degree program in the Faculty of Economics at Keio University.
KEIO PEARL
Keio University’s Faculty of Economics offers an English degree programme that allows students to earn both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree within five years.
Typically, it takes four years to earn a Bachelor’s degree and an additional two years for a Master’s degree. However, the PEARL programme enables you to obtain both degrees in just five years.
Keio’s Faculty of Economics is renowned for its excellence in economics education in Japan, providing students and alumni with numerous advantages.
When can I apply for the Programme?
Successful applicants matriculate in September, and the application period runs from October to April of the following year and is divided into three periods. The 1st Period is from October to December, the 2nd Period from December to January of the following year, and the 3rd Period from February to April.
Applicants who meet the eligibility requirements may apply in any period; however, in the 2nd and 3rd Periods, the number of available places may be reduced depending on the number of students admitted in the 1st Period. For this reason, we strongly recommend applying in the 1st Period.
What do I need to prepare for my application? Is there an interview or written test?
The application process requires several important documents and items, including:
Standardized tests: You must submit one or more of the following standardized tests (no other tests are accepted): IB Diploma (or its predicted grades), SAT scores, or ACT scores (the optional writing section is not required).
English test scores: TOEFL and/or IELTS Academic Module scores are needed to demonstrate your English proficiency. There is no exemption for this; even if your native language is English or your school education was delivered entirely in English, you need to obtain and submit a score.
Written Statement of the Applicant’s Academic and Future Goals: You should explain why you wish to study at PEARL and outline your future academic goals in an essay of approximately 600 words. It is absolutely forbidden to have someone else, including generative AI and ghostwriting services, write the essay (洋々 does not ghostwrite essays for you!)
Two-minute Video in English: In place of an interview examination, applicants are required to submit a two-minute presentation video. In this video, applicants are expected to address the following three points in particular:
・Self-introduction
・Key points of the statement of purpose
・Commentary on a contemporary economic issue
There is no face-to-face or online interview.
What should I be careful about? Where should I get started?
Improving your scores on standardized tests can be done through dedicated study, but crafting an exceptional essay is a different challenge. In your essay, you need to convey:
・Your passion for studying at PEARL
・What makes you a suitable candidate for the programme
・How you intend to apply what you learn at PEARL in the future
To do this, you should reflect on your past experiences, your current situation, and your vision for the future.
This can be a complex task, so consider seeking help to ensure your essay is free of grammatical errors.
It’s essential to understand that despite the absence of interviews or written tests, the application process is not easy. If your essay fails to impress the readers, you won’t have another chance to compensate for a lack of effort.
In addition, preparation for English test scores is essential. Since many PEARL applicants have extensive overseas experience, the TOEFL and IELTS scores of successful candidates are inevitably high.
To obtain scores that are competitive with theirs, it is necessary to perform well not only in reading and listening, but also in English writing and speaking. This is difficult to achieve through self-study based solely on past exam questions or reference books; feedback from others is indispensable.
At PEARL, English proficiency is taken for granted. Therefore, beyond test preparation, students must also develop the ability to learn through English—that is, to use English as a medium for academic study.
